Google’s Cultivate & Amplify Student Leadership Summit 2025

Visual identity design, presentation design

About The Event

The "Cultivate and Amplify: Student Career Summit" is a program series hosted by Google's Campus Outreach & Engagement team. The goals are to:

  • Cultivate: Develop students' technical skills through workshops.

  • Amplify: Empower students to enhance their career preparedness and amplify their unique voices in the tech industry.

  • Connect: Provide opportunities for direct access to Google professionals and networking with fellow future tech leaders.

Task

To create a visually compelling and memorable branding kit for the "Cultivate and Amplify: Student Career Summit" that accurately reflects the event's purpose and resonates with our target audience of aspiring tech professionals.

Contraints

This project came with several real-world constraints that shaped the design process:

  • Tight Timeline: The entire project had to be completed in just 3 weeks, which meant quickly aligning on a creative direction, delivering assets in phases, and making fast but intentional design decisions.

  • Strict Brand Guidelines: Because this summit was backed by Google, I had to follow rigid brand standards regarding colors, fonts, and logo usage. I found creative ways to inject personality while still aligning with their identity system.

  • Ambiguous Print Specs: My client initially didn’t know the exact sizes for printed materials like banners and signage. To stay ahead, I designed flexible layouts that could scale to multiple dimensions and prepared alternate versions once specs were confirmed.

  • Solo Design Role: I was the only designer on the project, managing branding, presentation slides, social graphics, and print collateral. To meet the deadline and elevate quality, I hired a motion designer (kieran.design) to help with an animated title card, overseeing creative direction and deliverables.

Despite the constraints, the final design system was cohesive, visually engaging, and ready for both digital and print execution and delivered on time. The summit branding helped unify the event experience across multiple platforms and touch points.

Design

When designing for the event I focused on keeping it simple. The client wanted something that reflected growth, voice, connection, and technology all while appealing to a student audience. For the logo I focused on designing a straightforward and fun logo design that featured a megaphone that represented keywords such as “voice” and “amplification” and a unique typeface for the word “Amplify” to subtly showcase diversity.

For the assets I designed clean and minimalist circuit-like assets that wove in and out of each other to touch on concepts of tech and the idea of cultivating.
